Before focusing on my juggling career, I was trying to be a pro musician, playing bars and cafes around Cleveland and even put out an album in 2001. Eventually I decided let juggling entertainer be my job and music be my personal passion. Over the past few years I’ve enjoyed bringing more guitar and singing skills back into my performance and tomorrow I begin a run of 10 days doing shows SOLELY as the score musician for @tinygirlbigshow at the World Buskers Festival. No juggling, no whips, no danger stunts, just the sounds I create with 6 strings and a few pedals. After 20 years, being hired to be a professional musician again fills me with pride and excitement.

On Saturday night Leah and I skipped out of whip-c

On Saturday night Leah and I skipped out of whip-con to see one of our favorite artists. @jackgarratt is the embodiment of musical passion whose work has carried us each through some rough times and inspired us to reach for greater things. UK based, his first show in the US since 2020 happened to be in Los Angeles at the same time we were here and we lucked out with some front-row seats. An amazing producer, his recorded tracks feature intricate harmonies, orchestrations and myriad instruments (all played by him) but this show brought us stripped down versions played only on piano or guitar. Despite the lack of loops, drums or sequencers, the music lacked for nothing as his emotion and virtuosity gave us something even more. We both cried, cheered, sang along (when prompted) and fell further in love with this beautiful man and his astoundingly self-aware body of work. Easily one of the top 10 concerts of my life.

Go listen to his music. “Worry”, “Time” and “Fire” are 3 of my favs and a good place to start.
